The Augusta Margaret River Times has revealed that Chinese searchers for “Margaret River” have jumped 525% in the past year, the largest jump in the country. The data is great news for the region, indicating that a lot more Chinese travellers will be visiting Margaret River in the near future.
Chinese TripAdvisor chief of staff Leo Lin said that Chinese travellers have recently emerged as one of the world’s biggest spenders on foreign travel and that there was a rapid rise in interest in all wine-related pursuits.
“With Margaret River being the closest wine region to China, it is not surprising that there is so much interest in Margaret River as a travel destination for the Chinese”.
