Local Marriage Celebrant Anita Revel says her recent award win could benefit south west businesses by up to $5m.
“In 2012, the average spend of a wedding in Australia was more than $54,000 per wedding, and that doesn’t include the flow-on benefits to peripheral suppliers — accommodation, cafes, gift stores, tour companies, party hire companies and so on,” said Anita.
“If my win attracts just two extra weddings a week to Margaret River, it will bring around $4m a year to wedding suppliers, and $1.4m to accommodation providers (based on 2 nights stay and 40 couples per wedding).”
Anita was voted by brides as the Number 1 Celebrant in the South West for the second year running.
The Award was offered via the Australian Bridal Industry Academy, who hosts the state Annual Bridal Industry Awards to reward and recognise the best wedding suppliers in the industry.
Over 50,000 newlyweds were invited to vote for the favourite suppliers, and give each supplier a score out of 100 for ‘Quality of Product’, ‘Quality of Service’, ‘Value for Money’ and ‘Attitude of Staff’ of each nominated wedding supplier.
In voting Anita as the top Celebrant in the South West, the combined scores also placed her as runner-up in the state, coming second to Goldfields Celebrant, Dianne Waterton.
“Looking at the Top 5 Celebrants in Western Australia as voted by brides, we all scored 99/100 for our service. It goes to show that every single aspect of our service, from the legal paperwork, to the creation and presentation of a beautiful ceremony, matters to brides. Obviously we’re all doing it right, because the brides’ appreciation is reflected in their scores.”
The win means Anita expects even more weddings to come south as couples who want the best for their Big Day book the best suppliers.
Until the announcement of the Award winners, Anita consistently had 40 weddings in her queue.
“I took three bookings yesterday alone,” she said, “so it appears my queue is going to boom, and the Margaret River region can enjoy lots more weddings to come!”
