The Shire of Augusta Margaret River in conjunction with the Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association, Chamber of Commerce and a host of other community organisations has formed a working party to help reduce the use of plastic bags in the Shire. The working party will help inform and educate the community about the implications of plastic-bag use, and what alternatives can be used.
The production and disposal of single-use plastic bags causes significant environmental impacts including contamination of the environment and widespread litter. The Shire aspires to being a clean, green WA leader by following in the footsteps of SA, TAS, ACT & NT to phase out the environmental hazard of single-use plastic bags.
The Working Party has prepared a survey to gain a better understanding of the costs and benefits to local business of use of single-use plastic bags. Could you please click on the following link and complete the attached survey. This will only take 2 minutes!
