Volunteers in the local community are being invited by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River to participate in a thank you celebration from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday 4 December 2014 in the Shire Administration Centre on Wallcliffe Rd, Margaret River.

The event, which coincides with International Thank a Volunteer Day, aims to acknowledge the important role that volunteers play in keeping communities safe, clean, vibrant and connected.

Shire President Mike Smart said volunteers contribute invaluable amounts of time, skills and life experience to the community.

“People contribute to all sorts of local causes for the benefit of others,” he said.

“We have very healthy number of dedicated emergency services and crisis response personnel we rely on to look after our property, lives, health and welfare.

“We also have volunteers cooking meals for others, hosting community websites, coaching sports, providing culture and arts opportunities, looking after the environment, sitting on committees, raising funds for charities and much, much more.

“We are so very fortunate as a Shire to have the services of these dedicated people.

“Thank you to all our volunteers and I hope you take time to celebrate in your successes and contributions on International Thank a Volunteer Day and I welcome you to the Shire event.”

Volunteers are asked to RSVP to the Thank a Volunteer Celebration to Lisa Garstone on 9780 5255 or atarmshire@amrshire.wa.gov.au by Thursday 27 November 2014.

Complimentary finger food, beverages and entertainment will be provided.
